• Rhagium Inquisitor

On November 13, 2026, Boone will release his 4thsolo album, Rhagium Inquisitor. The title Rhagium Inquisitor refers to the greyribbed longhorn beetle, a small beetle that lives under the bark of dead conifer trees and symbolizes the layered soundscape of the new album. The sound of Rhagium Inquisitor is inspired by Scandinavian and Breton folk music and by the hunting horn tradition, but also by 80s electronic music (including Depeche Mode) and Eurodance and trance influences from the 90s. On his new album, Boone blends acoustic and electronic worlds and brings together old and new musical traditions. Traditional instruments like violin, octave violin, mandolin, nyckelharpa, Hardanger fiddle, and the baroque musette meet the sounds of rock, modern chamber music and electronic music. Synths and sequencers are an integral part of Boone’s layered and immersive sound universe.

With Rhagium Inquisitor, Andries Boone explores once again the borders between tradition and innovation. This album confirms his place as one of the most inventive voices in contemporary folk.

All of Boone's new compositions are inspired by the local fauna and flora. The tracks were given the Latin name of a plant or animal, such as Viscum Album (the mistletoe), Accipiter Gentilis (the goshawk) or Lamprohiza Splendidula (the glow-worm).

  • C.O.N.V.E.R.S.A.T.I.O.N.S

With "C.O.N.V.E.R.S.A.T.I.O.N.S” (release May 26th, 2023) Andries Boone releases his third solo album. The album is the final album of a trilogy in which the acoustic mandolin is central, after "C.O.L.O.R.S" (2019) and "T.I.M.E.L.A.P.S.E" (2021).On "C.O.N.V.E.R.S.A.T.I.O.N.S" the acoustic mandolin enters into dialogue with the electric mandolin. Boone delivers his most progressive and cinematic folk album to date, seasoned with violin, accordion, bass synthesizer, bagpipes, drums and hurdy-gurdy.

Some compositions get an extra dimension thanks to the field recordings of the Naskapi Indians that Andries managed to make during his concert tours in Canada with MANdolinMAN.

Major sources of inspiration for the new album are Mike Oldfield's "Discovery" (1984) and Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here" (1975). The majority of the instruments are played by Boone himself, but there are many beautiful musical guest appearances on the album, such as Mario Goossens (Triggerfinger) on drums and Michel Hatzigeorgiou (Aka Moon, Toots Thielemans, Philippe Catherine) on the bouzouki.

The string arrangements were made by Koen Toté Artist and Stijn Vandebril provided some very beautiful figurative black and white charcoals drawings by Andries that form the basis of the artwork.

    T.I.M.E.L.A.P.S.E

After C.O.L.O.R.S (2019), Andries Boone proudly announces his second solo album, called “T.I.M.E.L.A.P.S.E”.

T.I.M.E.L.A.P.S.E was composed and recorded during the second Covid-lockdown in 2020. Each track corresponds to a specific moment in time, is linked with an emotion and reflects a filmic mood and state of mind.

Accordina, mandolin and piano form the basis of the sound. Electric bass and French horn flavour all tracks. A crossover sound between minimal piano music and jazzy film music, but always inspired by baroque music and traditional folk music, more specifically Caucasian ethnic music. The accordina plays an important role on this imaginary soundtrack. The accordina is a wind instrument of the 1930s. It sounds a bit similar like the chromatic harmonica and the instrument is mouth-blown aswell, but the instrument is played by buttons like a button accordion. The instrument is almost extinct.

    C.O.L.O.R.S.

C.O.L.O.R.S is an instrumental record, built around the sound of the acoustic mandolin and inspired by contemporary big bands, music from the baroque era and movie scores by the likes of Henry Mancini and Lalo Schifrin.

All track titles are inspired by the industrial poetry of Peter Van Eyck, an artist who hails from Louvain (Belgium). Peter links colors he sees to automobile brands and their corresponding color name.

All tracks are composed, recorded and mixed by Andries Boone between 2011 and 2018 @ Studio ‘Vitalac’ Veltem-Beisem & Studio ‘The Green Room’ Aalst, except Red Impulsion, mixed in 2014 by Peter Bulkens.
